Description

Dex Deep is a hand-crafted Game Boy style vertical precision platformer, designed mobile-first. Dex must escape the pit, collect some serious treasure and take down the Calamities of the Deep across five themed worlds packed with traps, power-ups and screen-filling bosses.

Inspired by classic platformers including Super Mario Land and Ghouls 'n Ghosts, and early mobile games such as Sketchbook Squad, Dex Deep is a tough but fair precision platformer.

A mobile game that offers a genuine challenge with an old-school feel: no in-app purchases, no ads and no randomly generated levels. It's quick to pick up, has new mechanics waiting at every turn and doesn't ask you to keep playing forever.

Dex Deep has been a long time in the making: the first ever screenshot was shared on Twitter in over a decade ago!

Features

  • Four-colour Game Boy style pixel art, with every frame hand-drawn
  • Five themed worlds, each with its own enemies and hand-placed traps
  • Power-ups: grow big, sprout wings, fire shots, wear a spiked helmet or roll up into a ball
  • Calamities of the Deep: a screen-filling boss at the end of each world
  • Tight, simple controls built for touch screens, with full keyboard and controller support on PC
  • 11 original music tracks by Francis Faux
  • Hidden areas and secrets to find
  • No in-app purchases and no randomly generated levels

About Goat Shed Games

Goat Shed Games is a small independent studio in the Cheshire countryside, hand-crafting mobile and PC games. Dex Deep is its first game.

It was founded by Mark Rhodes as an escape from regular software engineering work, with the dream of working on games full-time. Currently a one-man band, the studio hopes to grow and give opportunities to people who would struggle to find work elsewhere.

The studio is named after the goat shed outside its window, home to two goats, LeBron James and Alison Hammond, who keep everyone occupied with their Houdini-like escapades.
